Please join Ars Nova Workshop for two special performances by John Zorn’s New Masada Quartet at Solar Myth on Sunday, March 2.

Originally founded in the early 1990s, Masada became one of the key ensembles for developing and performing the work of the stylistically prolific composer John Zorn. Featuring Zorn, Dave Douglas, Greg Cohen and Joey Baron, Masada was the first group formed to delve into Zorn’s “Radical Jewish Culture” explorations, launching the saxophonist/composer’s pioneering songbook that would eventually grow to encompass more than 600 pieces. In 2019 Zorn reformed the quartet with a new line-up in which he’s joined by guitarist Julian Lage, bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Kenny Wollesen. The band will take the stage at Solar Myth for two shows mining the riches of the vast Masada repertoire.
